Hosting makes your website visible on the internet. It is something that all websites require. Every website must be installed on a web server.
Without getting into geek speak, the best way to explain it is with an analogy.
Imagine your website as a store or restaurant. It needs a building on "Main Street" because that is where the customers are. It does not matter which building it is in, so long as the building meets the store or restaurant's requirements (space, access, air conditioning, heating, kitchen, bathrooms, etc...). Of course some locations are better than others, but any building on "Main Street" will do. So if you do not own a building on "Main Street" ... you need to rent one.
So the next question is, "Do you own a web server?"
No? Well then you need to rent space from someone who does.
Over time, I have learned that 95% of my client's hosting needs can be met with what I call my "Small Business Hosting Package".
So for 95% of my customers the cost for hosting on my server is:
Annual Recurring Fee: $150
One Time Set Up Fee: $25
For this I provide sufficient bandwidth and disk space for your website to function well.
This also provides 10 email accounts. If you need more don't worry. They are easy to set up & cost very little.
If you really want to know the geeky details they are as follows:
- Shared Website Hosting
- 5 GB of Bandwidth (data transfer)
- 1250 MB of Disk Space
- 1 Domain Registration
- Unlimited Sub-Domains
- 2 Third Level Domains
- Custom DNS Records
- Custom MX Records
- PHP Scripting
- Perl CGI
- 1 MySQL Database
- 10 Email Boxes
- 250 MB Email Box Disk Space
Just ask if you need something more. I can do it.
